EVALUATION7 - Comparing Our Preliminary Task With Our Final Product.

This is a clip from our first task which i am going to compared from a clip from our final production.I am going to explain the strengths, errors and what i have learnt from the first time using the camera.I feel we have improved a lot from the first time. This includes things like;

Camera movements
We used very simple camera angles, shots and movements. We used camera shots such as mid and long shots this was because they are simple and easy to do. This improved onto much more complicated movements, which we learn as we got more comfortable with the cameras. We started using the tripod doing movements such as, tracking. In the first exercise we did not plan the using a story board very well and this lead to the filming to be all over the place.We found out that this lead to lot of extra time added to editing. On the final production we made sure we took care in our story board so we did not have to move around the clips and patch up lost parts of clips which we did not film. An example for this is on our preliminary task were we messed up filming. This was when my hand was reaching for the door and there is a jump of movements which has happened due to bad filming. Whereas in 'solo' the filming is constant and there are no jumps. Another error we made in the preliminary task was wen we attempted to film a shot-reverse-shot we did not follow the 180 degree rule as we put the camera on the wrong side and angle it should be. We later found where the camera should be.
The sound track

The sound track improved a lot from the preliminary task as in it we just used one sound track all the way through the clip. Whereas in our final production we used various sounds from soundtrack pro. This was because we had a lot more time to spend on time on the last task and also we had a lot more experience of the application. There was no sound effects in the preliminary task whereas there was many sound tracks such as typing sounds,breathing and a phone ringing. This added a lot of effect to the overall movie.

Mise en scene

The last thing we improved upon while filming is the mise en scene throughout. On the preliminary we did not try at all on the setting background and clothing for our characaters and shots the only one time we tried to make background on the preliminary was the point of view shot looking out the window. We found out in our final production that background and clothing of the characters can build up sterotypes and creates atomsphere.As we used make up and dark setting through out. This overall made it more thrilling and enjoyable to watch for the viewers. We could have focused more on the timer we used as it looked unprofessional in 'solo'.
