EVALUATION8 - Audience Feedback

Unfortunately, we were unable to capture sound with our feedback, however, we were able to write what was said....

FEEDBACK CLIP 1
"It was really good"
"I enjoyed it... AWESOME"
"WICKED!"

FEEDBACK CLIP 2
"I really liked the bit when a bin liner was used to put over the victims head"
"It was really funny"
When asked what we could improve on...
"Erm.. just the phone call, it was not clear who was on the phone to who"

FEEDBACK CLIP 3
"Your title sequence was very interesting, I enjoyed watching it. The use of the timer was a good effect, and continuity was obtained"
When asked what we could improve on...
"Nothing..."

FEEDBACK CLIP 4
"I liked the idea of the bag being placed over the victim and the use of the timer"
"It really interested me... keep doing what you are doing"

EVALUATION7 - Comparing Our Preliminary Task With Our Final Product.

The two extracts in this clip are examples of how we've improved from our preliminary task to our final title sequence. The clips can be compared by saying that we have improved our use of editing skills such as 'continuity'. In the first clip you can see that there is jump and movement is not very fluid, and appears to be very 'studenty' and unprofessional. The final title sequence from 'Solo' is cleary an improvement on the original task and i feel that it shows how our skills have improved over the course.

Also when comparing the groups original use of camera shots you can see that they appeared to be very limited. There was not a wide range of camera shots and the focus appeared to be more on mid-shots, compared to the title sequence that uses a variety of shots including close ups to display the emotions on the characters faces. Also there is a use of 'panning' to show movement whereas the preliminary task shows hardly any movement and just appears to go from shot to shot.

EVALUATION7 - Comparing Our Preliminary Task With Our Final Product.

This is a clip from our first task which i am going to compared from a clip from our final production.I am going to explain the strengths, errors and what i have learnt from the first time using the camera.I feel we have improved a lot from the first time. This includes things like;

Camera movements
We used very simple camera angles, shots and movements. We used camera shots such as mid and long shots this was because they are simple and easy to do. This improved onto much more complicated movements, which we learn as we got more comfortable with the cameras. We started using the tripod doing movements such as, tracking. In the first exercise we did not plan the using a story board very well and this lead to the filming to be all over the place. We found out that this lead to lot of extra time added to editing. On the final production we made sure we took care in our story board so we did not have to move around the clips and patch up lost parts of clips which we did not film. An example for this is on our preliminary task were we messed up filming. This was when my hand was reaching for the door and there is a jump of movements which has happened due to bad filming. Whereas in 'solo' the filming is constant and there are no jumps. Another error we made in the preliminary task was wen we attempted to film a shot-reverse-shot we did not follow the 180 degree rule as we put the camera on the wrong side and angle it should be. We later found where the camera should be.
The sound track

The sound track improved a lot from the preliminary task as in it we just used one sound track all the way through the clip. Whereas in our final production we used various sounds from soundtrack pro. This was because we had a lot more time to spend on time on the last task and also we had a lot more experience of the application. There was no sound effects in the preliminary task whereas there was many sound tracks such as typing sounds, breathing and a phone ringing. This added a lot of effect to the overall movie.

Mise en scene

The last thing we improved upon while filming is the mise en scene throughout. On the preliminary we did not try at all on the setting background and clothing for our characaters and shots the only one time we tried to make background on the preliminary was the point of view shot looking out the window. We found out in our final production that background and clothing of the characters can build up sterotypes and creates atomsphere. As we used make up and dark setting through out. This overall made it more thrilling and enjoyable to watch for the viewers. We could have focused more on the timer we used as it looked unprofessional in 'solo'.

EVALUATION TASK 7 - Comparing Our Preliminary Task With Our Final Product.

Throughout our media production there where various different things we had to learn whilst producing our clips. in relation to this clip 'continuity' plays a big part. this is used so clips can run smoothly and be appealing to the audience. this is so that the clip looks good and also professional to the viewer. there are also various different things that we as a group improved on. these where things such as camera shoots, sound track and Mise en scene.

CAMERA SHOTS:

We learnt how to use different camera shots such as over the shoulder shot. this was to give a better effect of how things can be shown in anther aspect. this was also used to make the audience feel not at ease especially to build up tension to what might happen next. another type of shot we used was extreme close up shots of the victims face. last time we didn't use this in our match cut and when we used in our solo clip we found that this was a better shot to use to build up tension. we also used mid shots, meaning we didn't show the background. this was so the audience is unaware of the surroundings. we also used close up shots to show the characters importance on the screen.

SOUND TRACK:

Our soundtrack used in the 'Solo' clip is very different to the match cut. in our match cut we used one continuous soundtrack that ran all the way through out. we learnt that in our solo clip it wold be better for us to use mixtures of sounds that go together but at the same time build up tension. we used a slow sound to start with. then builds up later with lots of different other sounds. we did this on 'soundtrack pro' which was a really good application to use for this part of our production on the clip 'Solo'.

MISE EN SCENE:

consisted of hand bag, phones, car, clothes (jackets, jeans, scarf, belt, shoes etc...), make up and black bags. these were all the things that the audience can see on the screen. the phone was used for communication and to build up tension between both characters because both of them were on the phone at the same time but not to each other. car was used to shoe were one of the character was coming from. make up represents the bruises on the victims face. the black bags was used to put the victim into before being beaten up. all these things were used to build up a clear picture for the audience.

EVALUATION7 - Comparing Our Preliminary Task With Our Final Product.

THE VIDEO CLIP

CONTINUITY
Over time, there are many aspects of media we have learnt and developed, looking at the clip above, the first comparison I have made is, 'Continuity' being the major problem our group struggled with. From our preliminary task, our continuity was not kept consistent, however, with our final product, we remembered to keep the story going through out different camera shots.
Though continuity seems like it would be an easy task to remember, with the issues and pressure of filming and keeping the storyboard, you tend to forget. Though in our final product using this media element is not perfect, we attempted to keep it as close to 'sense' as possible.

SOUND
In our preliminary task, the sound we used was the same through out the same video clip which did not allow us to explore different atmosphere's that could of been created through-out the clip.
During our final product, we used different sound tracks including, 'Drone Dark Suspense' and instruments such as Violins. As we correlated the sounds with the actions, it emphasised what was being seen and created the suspense atmosphere for the audience.

180DEGREES CAMERA SHOT
At the time of filming our preliminary task, we were unaware of the 180degrees camera shot rule; this involves keeping the camera on the same side of a charater even when the camera changes position.
As we made a list of compulsory tasks to complete with our final product, the 180degrees camera shot rule was obtained and we remembered to keep the camera on the same side of the villians shoulder when putting the victim into the bag. In effect, it looks much better and makes the viewing for the audience more comfortable.

MISE-en-SCENE; props, make-up & location
Our group was limited to using the corridor in the college for our location, yet we brought in the props of a table and chairs to create the atmosphere of a classroom. We also used a mobile phone and a sweet packet to establish why they were in detention to create a 'believable' storyline.
With our final product, we varied our props from a bin liner, a car, black dark costumes and our location was where we wanted to film. The use of the location was more effective than having to use a classroom and creating the location ourselves - moreover, it's easier! The make-up we used for our final product was more convincing for our atmosphere rather than the natural look in our preliminary task.

CAMERA USE
With our preliminary task, the camera shots we used were pretty simple such as long shot, close-up shots and a few over-the-shoulder shots, however, with our final product, we attempted to use our camera shots in a more creative way.

EVALUATION6 - Technologies Learnt From The Process Of Constructing Our Product

Presented here is our animatic movie which shows our journey and what technologies we have learnt from the beginning of our coursework.

Task 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our groups work is in comparison to the film 'Se7en'. looking at the social groups amongst both 'Solo' and 'Se7en' the are similarities as well as differences. the similarities are that both characters are Innocent victims that have no clue to why they are in the situation their in. they are totally oblivious to what is happening around them and who their dealing with. Also another similarities are the mise-en-scence meaning make-up. the use of make up shows how badly the have been beaten or abused.

Evaluation : Who Would Be The Audience For Your Media Product?

Katie, 19, University student, Works in Sainsbury's part time, likes going out on a Friday night, loves going to the cinema, especially loves shopping in River Island, H&M, New Look etc. Her film taste is very eclectic, although she dislikes typical 'chick flicks' as she find they can be a bit cliche. A good action movie, comedy or thriller keeps her entertained.

Daniel, 22, Works in Zee &

Co. Likes going to the gym, Likes gory horror films, fast paced action films and all types of thrillers. Thinks of himself as a ladies man. Would enjoy a film with all girls.

Evaluation: How Does Your Media Product Represent Particular Social Groups?

The above image is a representation of young females from different ethnic backgrounds taken from the film 'The Decent', which is a film that has an all female main cast.

My media product product strongly represents young females of all different races. I feel that the Bruce Willis' character in hostage, can be compared to
my main character in
my thriller as they are both held hostage by an
unknown person.

evaluation question 5

who would be the audience for our media products.
our target audience for 'solo' is both females and males which are aged around 16-24.
we choose this target audience because i feel they would be the people who would watch our film because of the thrilling action it contans.
our fan called charlie, who is a female student studying her a levels in college. Her hobbies include texting on her phone, surfing the intertent, going cinema, hanging around with her freinds.she loves to where stylish clothes from lead brands. She lives in islington.
The first product i feel would appeal to both females and males is a phone. It could be full of applications and ringtones from the movie this advertise and promotes the movie. This would be for big fans of the movie, and can appeal to anyone. This is a good investment as everyone has mobiles phones and as there constantly changing people upgrade regularly.

Another thing that would appeal for charlie could be a trendy clothing item. This could be a whole range of clothes for both male and females. They would have to be in a low price range as our widest audience is students. The cheapest form of clothing is t-shits when doing film clothing.

Another thing charlie could buy is a bag this is an everyday thing that people can use often.she could take it to carry her books in while she studies in college. The bag could have a picture or logo from the film this also means adversting this could make her freinds or people that see the bag want to go see the film.

The last item that Charlie could by is posters to put up in her room. This poster could appeal to both her and boys aswell as everyone has posters up in there rooms. The posters could be braugh from bookshops like Borders. This poster shows a shot of the movie that was Charlie's favourate part.

evaluation question 5

Task 5 - evaluation - who would be the audience for our media products!

The iphone represents our older audience due to the fact that you need to be over the age of 18 to get a iphone on contract. we think that out tile sequence has an appeal to the older audience.

This jacket represents our male audience. this is to show that men too will find our title sequence interesting. even though there are no male characters in our title sequence, men could see the point being put across the females can also be Villon's as well as the victim.

This jacket represents our female audience. this is simply because both characters in out title sequence are female so they will have a better understanding and know how it feels to be in the victims shoes.

The student ID card simply represents the younger audience. our title sequence relates to young teenagers more. i think it raises more awareness to stay safe.

Task 3 & 4

Placing my thriller film into the real world of general cinematic release.

There are many different ways in releasing my thriller movie 'Solo' in cinematic release. these are things such as posters, trailers, online, mobile, promotional partnership, merchandising and premiers.

Posters consists of an image that relates to the film the most and also would appeal to the audience. it also gives a sense of what the films is about, this is in relation to the theme of the movie. it would be a good idea to produce various different poster for our movie Solo. this makes the posters attract people more. also makes the film look more interesting. They should be posted locally so the movie can be spread by word and mouth. this 'word and mouth' helps promote the movie to get a lot of viewers and its costs nothing.

Trailers are short clips of the movie. this builds up an idea for the audience to know what the movie might be about. it gives them a story to follow and gives a good understanding. This is helpful in promoting the movie, when people she trailers they enjoy then they will hopefully tell their friends about it and then go watch the film when its released.

Online promotions is a really good idea. majority of people use the Internet 95% of the time. most films that are released have an official website. the page consists of everything to do with the movie. if people like it people would go watch it. Also the page must be eye-catching and interesting for who ever viewing the website. it should also be easy to understand and follow. the Internet helps build up awareness of the movie at the beginning of the release.

Media advertising is relevant depending on the market condition through out the year. if all goes well your film gets broad casted through many channels also what needs to be taken into consideration is whether or not it will clash with other films.

Evaluation : What Kind Of Institution Would Distribute Your Media Product

The UK has half a dozen major distributors linked to the major hollywood studios. They also have many independent film distributors for films that are not likely to get a mainstream release. distributors recognise that it is important to be supportive and help out those who work for independent companies, for example a British audience would be quite welcoming to a 'good' British film i.e East is East.
Due to the fact that we live in a heavily technology based society i feel that it would be very effective to promote my thriller using banners, pop-up trailers and advertisements on the internet. A film such as Startrek (2009), had a very big campaign of promotion which included an important use of technology. This included banner on some of the most popular internet sites, pop-ups on the internet, billboards, trailers shown just before James Bond films (ensures a big audience due to the fact that this film has a very big fan base already).
My thriller uses females of all different races which would attract a younger audience of young females of many different cultures. To make sure that this audience is directly targeted, we could advertise it heavily in women's magazines ad also offer free viewings in the magazines as well. Billboards will also come in handy because they can be seen from everywhere and if located in the right places the right audience will be able to see it.

Evaluation question three and four.

what kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? how will you attract/address your audience.
Film distrubition involves deciding which cinemas a particular film is shown in.Marketing and adversting is very important when considering distrubition.Alot of distrubited films and adversiting needs to be worldworld in order to make money and make it big in the world of film. The main distrubtion of films is centered around hollywood. A main distrubiter from hollywood is Paramount pictures.I feel my film would not get distrubited by Paramount as they are a main stream company which only produces and distrubites main blockbusters like "sherk".So therefore i feel,The production company that would distribute 'solo' is a company Icon. Thier current releases include its a wonderful afterlife, edge of darkness and precious. They would distribute our production because its a low budget film that can be distrubuted it many ways such as; billboards, fast food toys, social network and various websites banners. There is also out of house advertising could be used such as newspaper articles. These adversting methods are vital if the company wants alot of people to go cinema to ensure they make profit.

Different types of adverstisments.

The interent - alot of production companies uses the internet as its the biggest source of adversting as young people are on it alot of the time. This would appeal to our audience as its teenagers and young adults which are very 'tech savy' and find the internet more appealing than books in most cases. They could use websights such as; facebook and youtube, this is because these are mainstream very popular websights for our target audience. Thriller seekers which we would be looking for to see our film could see a banner or a trailer on these websights which would make them go see our film.

magazienes, newspapers and billboards- The media is a very powerful source when it is used properly. I feel i could adress my audience of teenagers and young adults through magazines such as Now or Hello for female teenagers and young audienes as theses would be there regular readers. the company icon could put a compatition which would invole giving the readers an oportunity to see "solo". Also putting an colour insert of an advert of "solo" in free newspapers such as the london lite would appeal to students and older. This would mean loads of people would see it and hopefully follow through and go cinema to watch it.

There are two ways in which icon can distrubite it to the cinema. There is wide release like Star Trek (2009)was distributed, it is where the film gets sent to every country all at the same time. This is very expensive method and would only get used by main stream companies E.G Paramount, but it cuts down privacy dramatically which increases profits. On the other hand there is modified wide release, this is where it gets released to certain countries first then other ones later. I think icon would use modified wide release as it is cheaper.

This is a production i made of someone reading a newspaper with my film adverstiment of solo.

EVALUATION5 - The Audience For Our Media Product

Presented here are images depicting the typical target audience for our title sequence, as mentioned before, our target audience varied from between 16-24 year olds;

The pen and money, which are general items belong to James are Jessica who are of the same age of our target audience, 16-24. James attends St. James Catholic High School, the 6thform and earns weekly EMA and requires the pen whilst Jessica works in Tesco to earn her money.

Kevin, 15 owns the 'Just Do It' bag and represents the male gender whilst Katie who attends Kingston University and represents the female gender for our title sequence owns the handbag.

This item represents the older half of our target audience; Leo, 19 owns these keys as he has a car as a possession, he too would fit into the age range of our target audience. He works with his father in their family business selling cars.

Evaluation-question two. "how does ur media product represent particular social groups? "

how does your media products represent particular social groups?
The film we based our thriller on is the title opening of "se7en" this is because we liked there choice of camera movements and angle types. The favoured close ups which we tried to use alot in with our opening. Close ups helped us represent particular social groups, the main conetation our film shows us is different sterotypes you can get from women. "solo" has two characters throug out, Theses are both women, one is the victim and the other one is a villian. This is because our film is a goodies vs badies thriller. There are many shots through out which look down on the victim and are very close up showing the postion of the victim. This shows the usal conception of the media of women being "week" and not being able to defend for themselves. In "Se7en"
Here are a few shots from "se7en" and my own thriller which show this female victim sterotype.

In"se7en" there are multiple vitcims which "solo" doesnt have. They both seem to be males in "se7en" which is unsal and challeges the usal conception of a vitcim.
In "solo" the vitcim is female, this shot shows her looking week and unable to get out of the capture. Mise en sene is a very important part in both shots from making theses sterotypes, In
"se7en" there is more professinal forms of make up and costume to make the person more creepy looking. The picture to the left has a person looking almost white this is what indicates the person is a vitctim. Whereas as our victim is a female make up is a key facter, as shown in the film the alima gets "beaten up" so her make up is all down her face.

Tuesday, 20 April 2010

EVALUATION3 - Which Media Institution Will Distribute Our Media Product? How Will We Attract Our Audience?

Comparing "Solo" with "Dare", a thriller clip about dares leading to death, we are able to establish how we use different or similar methods to attract the same particular audience of males and females ages 16-24. Also, we are able to discuss why the Internet and low budget media institutions help to distribute the type of products we produce.

Despite being a homemade film, the Internet has helped to distribute this film for many reasons, one being the gender of the characters. Films of a thriller genre are usually based on the male, superior characters however, in both "Dare" and "Solo", we have contrasted this stereotype. This allows females to also feel superior and have the status of a bold and strong character. Similarly, we both use females as the weak characters which highlights the stereotype of a the weak gender.
The Internet has helped these students to get their film across to their audience as the Internet is available to nearly everybody. Also, the Internet allows these films to be embedded onto blogs, such as 'Blogger' where they are able to be discussed by the audience they are aimed to. With the Internet, there is usually easy access, and with certain websites such as YouTube, it is free to view and use the films. Unlike with films produced by big film companies, films have to be bought legally and depending on the target audience for these films, only certain individuals are able to purchase them. the Internet allows even people out of the target audience to have access to the films; using the audience to stream films makes the accessibility to them flexible.
The Internet allows low budget student videos to be released to a niche audience and to gradually reach a global audience depending on how appealing the film for its target audience.
Other internet websites that can be used are social networking sites such as twitter, bebo and facebook. As our target audience is of an age group popular with these socializing website, it will make it easier to get our film appealed to them.

Art of Title Comparison Shots (9 Stills)

The initial shot of the film 'Panic Room' opens up with an establishing shot from on top of city skyline, in the foreground the with the words of the institution 'Columbia Pictures Presents'. My groups title sequence from 'Solo' opens with a shot of Christel's torso standing by a car whilst she dials her phone. The two shots challenge the conventions of real media products by starting with a shot of a person rather than an establishing shot of location.

The seconds shot from Panic Room opens with another shot of the city skyline, but this time it is a close up a shot from a lower angle. Again there is a title in the foreground. The second title from Solo opens with a similar shot to the first one, by using an establishing shot of one of the characters in the clip.

The next shot from panic room is an extreme close up of the buildings yet again with another title in front of it. The next shot from Solo introduces the first title character it is also the first title to appear within the screen shot, whereas previous ones appeared before now on a black background.

Panic room then has an even more extreme close up just of the tops of the buildings a slight angle, with yet again a title in front. Solo contrasts this by using a shot that is not close up but not as close as the one in panic room. This shot is similar to the first one in the 9 stills of Solo, which was of Christel's torso. But now the shot is not as close up, the car is also more of a main feature in this shot. It establishes the location more compared to the orginal shot.

The fifth shot of Panic room can be compared to the previous one but this time instead of showing the building tops it focusses on the centre of the buildings. Again the shot is at a diagonal angle, it also appears to shot from a titled angle, high above. This time the title appears to be blending in with the building, compared to Solo which has all the titles facing straight towards the screen and are rough;y the same size. The titles in Panic Room come from and are shot at different angles.

The next shot of finally displays the title of the movie which is centered on the screen in the foreground of the buildings, unlike Solo which doesn't introduce the title until the end of the sequence. The next shot from my thriller simply shows action that are taking place.

Panic room shows a shot the buildings and the busy roads. This is the first time any action is show in any of these title shots. Solo simply shows Alima in the corner with the data scrolled along the bottom.

Solo's penultimate shot is of the timer which represents a bomb in the actual sequence. Panic room goes back to its shot of a birds eye view with the titles along the buildings again.

The final shot of Panic room an establishing shot of a park with the buildings the background. Solos final shot of a face. The shot is close up to show the emotion and i feel that it suggests what is going to happen next.

Task 8 - Audience feed back and comments.

An aspect of the film language was close up of victims faces. This created tension because you could not see the surroundings. There shots where used such as over the shoulder shot, this created mystery.
An aspect of the film language that could have been improved is match cut of the phone sound could have been smoother.
Stereotypes in this movies where 'goodies' and 'baddies' also consists of the victim the 'the kidnapped girl'
From the feedback the target audience would be adults. however the group initially targeted this movie to teenagers as well as adults.
From the feedback the words that described our title sequence the best where thriller, tense, action and dark. the institution that people thought released this movie is paramount.

EVALUATION8 - Audience Feedback & Comment (Picture Analysis)

Overall, the audience feedback on our title sequence 'Solo' are positive and encouraging on how we could improve it.

A majority of the groups suggested that our title sequence created suspension and was thrilling for them. Other groups agreed that our title sequence was of mysterious story line which was dramatic.

Personally, I was not expecting to have such effecting feedback which reassures my group and I that our work was produced to an exceptional level.

Many groups thought our use of close-ups and sound track was very effective as it helped in creating the tension for the title sequence. Also, the use of diegetic sounds and slow motion to go along with the action emphasised what was being shown.

Our initial target audience that we thought would suit our title sequence was of both males and female, ages 16-24; many groups agreed with this, with one outstanding group suggesting that individuals from 16-30 year olds would suit this.

Evaluation- Audience Feedback-(Picture Analysis)

The audience feedback sheet for the title sequences asked questions like: Can you recognise any stereotypes and who do you think the audience for your movie would be?. The groups agreed that my groups title used lot of close and extreme close ups, and they felt that this was a positive thing. The general idea for the audience was teenagers of maybe females, as the title sequence featured only females.
The picture linked to the audience feedback title shows some of the words that people actually used to describe my groups final piece. It lists shot types and feeling they got whilst watching the title sequence. Such as 'Slow, scary and disturbing'
I personally feel that the audience feedback for my group was generally good. The other groups appeared to understand the concept of what was trying to be portrayed.
I also feel that the feedback task was helpful as it gave a clear over view of what other people thought of your work and it helps assess whether your task was successful or not.

evaluation- audience feedback&comments.(task 8)

Audience feedback on Solo.

The general feedback, we got on our title sequence it was a good action thriller that created suspense throughout by using a varation of shots .
according to the audience, the good parts in our films was the amount of camera shots we desided to use, the over sholder shot came up in many sheets. Also the close up which didnt allow them to see the background created tension and suspense which a thriller should do. The particular edits we used was favored "slowing down" effect was said to create tension which made the want to carry on watching.lastly the diogetic sounds made the overall sequence better.
we recieved critisms that we could have done our match cut of a phone coversation better, by making the overall filming much better. This is true, we relised after getting our footage of the camera so we tried to used effects to cover it up. We could have improved this is using the tri-pod while filming.
The sterotype people said was represented in "solo" was vitcims, this was because the victim was female which is generally is shown in the media. The Women was shown as week and vurable, through camera shots and angles this was sucessful.
people picked up that we used the genre of goody vs badies, which was the image we was trying to come across though our lack of light and the two characters which was a good person and a bad person.

EVALUATION - Audience Feedback & Comment

Monday, 19 April 2010

Evaluation-question one " In what ways does your media use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media?"

in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

i am going to compare my film with a thriller called "panic room" i choose to do this because the still focus on different shots types and clear titles which is shown through in mine. I will be exploring the differences and simlaries mine has to a real media production.

The first still from Panic room is a establishing shoot with a clear white title. An establishing shot is a popular and good way to start of a film, as our film setting wasnt shown through out to keep the mystory up and to make it as thrilling as possible. We have a shot of our vilain christel, this develops panics room idea as its keeps the background low and makes the audience think.

The secound still from "Panic room" is another establish shoot without the title. This shoot doesnt give much of a story line to the audience but also keeps the mistory up, its a mid shot shown. "solo" keeps bits of the story open for the audience to imagen like "Panic room" does, the next shot is a mid shot like "Panic room" of a car and our victem.

The Third shot from "Panic room" is a closer shot of the buildings with a white title in the left hand corner. This is a prefessional way of doing titles as it gives you a bit of the clips and tells you a name. This is a method we used in our film, as in the third still we have a over shoulder shot with the white title in the background like "Panic Room".

The fourth shot from "Panic room" is another title with the location in the background. The shot is very close this can make the audience wonder of the possibillities that could happen through out the film. In "solo" theres a mid shot of our villian again. The types of shots and movements keep repeting thereself. As there both begining of films this happens and is used in mine film aswell as the blockbuster.

The fifth shot from "Panic room" is a tited shot of the building with another title. "Panic Room" uses a variable of shots and titles, i feel that in my production more titles should have bin used in order to give the audience more information of who made the film. The shot from "Solo" is another mid shot this time you see the character face for the first still."Panic Room" hasnt yet introduced any characters in the still which can get quite boring, so i feel the opening of "Solo" is more entertaining.

The sixth shot from "Panic room" is a title shot which is a more zoomed out from the buildings."Solo" has the first close up from the stills, many close ups are used in "Panic room" this is a good technique to use i feel in thrillers as it keeps tension up and build suspenise.

The seventh shot from "Panic room" is the first shot without a title but its still a location shot. "solo" shows a shot of Alima sittin down showing mainly the background, with a piece of white writing in the corner saying a date. This gives the audience a conception of how much time the vitcim has bin tighted up. Its a good technique used in real media and could have bin developed better in my film by having more titles or making it more clearer.

The eighth shot from "Panic room" is a low angle shot looking down to the location. Whereas "solo" shows an extream close up of an alarm clock. This shot is shown quite a few times in order to build suspense. The low angle shot is a good shot to use as it can be used to put empsis on character and location. I would have choose to use this but its trickey without the right equipment.

The last shot from "Panic Shot" is mid shot of the location of buildings."Panic Room" choose there shots to not introduce people and to let the audience get a good feel of location and titles. Whereas we felt it would be a good idea to use people as it grabs the audince attention and builds tension up straight away. The shot from "Solo" is a close up of Alima face this is surpose to be thrilling to the audience as its close and the last shot to be shown.

Task 1

EVALUATION - SOCIAL GROUPS BEING REPRESENTED BY OUR MEDIA PRODUCTS

The group was inspired by the film 'se7en' in relation to our own title sequence. There are similarities between the title sequence 'se7en' and our own 'solo'... these are things such as (photographs) were both victims of the movie. Also they were both captured by a Villon(s).

In our title sequence i played the part of the female victim being captured and the beaten up. however in 'se7en' they use a male victim and the same thing happens to him. this is one of the differences between our tile sequence 'solo' and 'se7en'. we show that it doesn't matter what gender you are if you are placed in the same situation how would you know to escape from it. this showed the contrasts between both genders. It showed that women and men are both equal as each other.

Representation of social group can also be differentiated by age. We did this by making my character a young female and the man in 'se7en' was a older character it showed how due to age he might be wiser in freeing him self than my character simply because my character is young and not knowledgeable. This was another difference.

making of the soundtrack

we had to use an application called sound track pro to create our music to go alongside our title sequence.Out of all the production of the title sequence, my group strugled with this task the most.We tried to look through other action thrillers title sequences e.g. James Bond, to get an inital idea of sound. At first we had a tatic where we played around with different instruments to create a "creppy" effect. Vilion and sci-fi seemed to be the most popular, we tried not to make the soundtrack too complicated as it would take away from our actul footage. trying to link various sound effects and actions in our movie was a task that took concentration, our group found difficulties and seemed to leave this task to last.

MAKING OF SOUNDTRACK

Making the soundtrack was difficult. This was mainly one of the reasons why the whole group left it to the end. the difficulties where going back and forth placing a certain parts of the soundtrack alongside the clip for it to sound good and fit in. we used various different types of instruments and sound to build up suspense and tension in the clip. we used diegectic sounds as well as non diegectic sounds.

EVALUATION2 - Our Media Product Representing Particular Social Groups

The Film which inspired us for an idea for our title sequence is 'Se7en' 1995, however, our characters (from these particular shots) are contrasted as the social groups involved are very different.
There are a few similarities between these two characters which are:
- they are both weak victims of the movie
- both have been captured by the villian(s)

On the other hand, differences between our 'Solo' & 'Se7en' include:
The use of a female victim stereotypes women to being weak and inferior to either the opposite gender or to their the other hand, as a male victim is used for 'se7en' it contrasts with the idea that men have tactics of how to get away when in trouble. It creates a sense that they are just as trapped as women, and both genders are equal.

Another difference in the represented social groups is the the age difference of the characters. As Alima is portrayed as younger than the man from 'se7en' it is understandable why she is uncapable of rescuing herself.
The man represents older men who too, are unable to get themselves out of trouble, as they struggle to find support.

It is unclear by looking at the stills what social class the two characters have come from, so it is nearly impossible to say whether their background has an effect on why they are in the position they are in.
